2020 Lexus IS350 F Sport Review
Prior to IS 350, the most powerful variant of the first generation Lexus IS sedan, generated from the 2001 to 2005 model, was the IS 300, powered by 3.0 liter I-6 rated 217 hp and 218 lb -ft torque and can be paired with five-speed manual transmission or automatic. But the reality is a luxury sedan with a six-cylinder engine (like an upgrade) does offer faster acceleration and often has sharper handling capabilities. You just have to ask yourself how much really matters. Overall, we think the IS 350 offers a delightful blend of quality desired by luxury sedan buyers.
For 2020, the Lexus IS 350 adds more horsepower, rearview cameras and, on the rear-wheel drive F Sport trims, limited-slip differential. Adaptive front lamp is optional.
Although you can get the IS 300 in a four-cylinder or detunded V6 turbo version, we’ll assume you’re here because you’re interested in the top dog IS 350. There’s only one trim level, so the real decision-making comes how to complete it. The F Sport package adds some handling and lifestyle but does not change the car. It’s worth getting to 350. Handling dynamics is not the strongest suit of this car, although you can still have fun whipping this luxurious compact around a bend or two. Lexus IS 350’s V6 is the best of the IS lineup, though other rival sedans offer the more powerful six-cylinder.
The excellent driving comfort and serene tranquility of the IS 350 cabin is a great standout in this area. We are also happy with the seats, although sitting in the saddle for several hours can bring a few victims on the lower back due to some unfamiliar lumbar ergonomics.
