2018 Lexus RX 350 Changes: What’s New?

Lexus RX has been around since 1998 and basically finds a luxury crossover segment. It’s even right to give credit to the RX with a popularity boom for all the niche crossovers. But of course it has changed, and the competition is very tight. Lexus carries the latest RX iteration for 2015, complete with aggressive styling seen on other lines of the Lexus.

Now after 2018 launches, the Lexus RX 350 gets a new three-line version called RX L. It’s available in RX350 and RX450 configurations, which means you can transport seven people with a V-6 standard or connected to a hybrid system. If that’s not enough choice, Lexus will also let you have the F Sport package and that’s all before going into the optional features available inside the cab. Needless to say, RX offers many choices to customers.

But we are testing the old RX350 standard in FWD without the emergence of package or hybrid powertrain. This is the type of RX you will find at any Lexus dealer without having to order anything specifically. Let’s see.

The most significant changes are in Enform safety features and free telematics services for 10 years, not one. in terms of price changes, the 2018 Lexus RX 350 is unchanged while for the price of the Lexus RX 450h Hybrid and F Sport version has not been announced and for the destination fee also unchanged at $ 995.

Which one should you buy, 2017 or 2018? 2018 Minimal change for the RX SUV, the most popular Lexus model. The telematics safety and Enform service feature is now free for 10 years and not one in all models.

The same lineup returned from last year, with the front and rear versions of the RX 350 and the all-wheel-drive-only RX 450h hybrid. F Sport versions each have a firmer suspension setting, 20-inch wheels, and special exterior and interior design cues.

All models use a 3.5-liter V-6 engine; it makes 295 horsepower on the RX 350, and the total system output of RX 450h is 308 hp. All models sit five in two rows. The third row seat is not an option. The 2018 RX 350 steering wheel starts at $ 44,215, including a $ 995 destination charge, and an all-wheel-drive RX RX starting at $ 45,615.

RX relies on the attributes that make Lexus a hit among luxury buyers: quality, refinement, reliability and a rewarding ownership experience. Stylingnya distinguishes it more than the driving style, and Remote Touch multimedia controllers are still a source of frustration. And although starting over $ 44,000, leather seats are still available only as an option.

The front seats are even more comfortable with 10-way power adjustments. The driver seat also has a three-position memory feature that remembers the position of the steering column of tilt power and telescoping and side mirrors that can be adapted to power.

Infotainment The Lexus Enform includes all the standard features, including satellite radio, GPS navigation, camera backup, traffic and weather information, gas prices, and vehicle maintenance scheduling. It does not, however, have an Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Wi-Fi connectivity system. It puts Lexus at a loss for many of its competitors.

I’m not a fan of Enform joystick controllers. This works, but the learning curve is steep and requires extra attention than the driver should split from driving. As I wrote in the close view of the Lexus Enform system, moving away from the joystick and adopting the touch screen will serve the Lexus well.

Another disadvantage of RX is the cargo space. Compared to crossovers like the Audi Q5, Cadillac XT5, and Lincoln MKX, the RX falls short. However, for those who do not need to move large quantities of goods, 18.4 cubic feet of RX in the cargo area and 56.3 cubic feet with upholstered seats should be plenty.

All told, the interior of the Lexus RX is a very beautiful place to spend time and provide a beautiful view of the street and surrounding scenery. That’s especially true with an optional panoramic moonroof.

Behind it Spindle Grille is a V-6 3.5 liter Lexus is familiar. The all-aluminum engine has a double overhead camshaft with variable valve timings. Of course, the RX is much more adept at cruising comfort than autobahn burning. The suspension uses MacPherson struts on the front and an independent coil spring coil on the back, but is tuned for convenience over performance. The lump is soaked easily and sends a little bit of violence into the cabin.

Weakness on the soft ride is a body roll on the corner and nosedive during hard braking. It’s not terrible, but RX is not a sports car. For those who want a more athletic driving experience, the RX F Sport is the right choice. The suspension is firmer in twisties thanks to adaptive dampers that coordinate with the drive mode.

Drive modes are also present in standard RX. They include Eco, Normal, and Sport. Each one provides different tuning to machine and transmission computers, making the driving experience very different in every mode. I have explained more about the driving experience here.

2018 Lexus RX 350 Release Date and Price

Although my tester is a 2017 model, most consumers will find many dealers who have the current 2018 model. That does not make much difference, though, prices have not changed between the years.

My RX350 offers many optional additions that add a whopping $ 10.254 to a base price of $ 43,020. In fact, the RX is not offered in a special trim level with a set price and a list of features included. Instead, Lexus allows customers to choose what packages of choice and stand-alone features they want. This can make the shopping experience potentially more frustrating by trying to improve search results based on options rather than well-defined trim levels.
